Serving foster youth since 2016, Day 1 Bags believes in attention to detail and strives to provide the highest quality duffel bags, backpacks, and vital document bags to youth in foster care who move from shelter to shelter.  Since its inception, Day 1 Bags has served over 45,000 foster and at-risk youth across 24 states.

Day 1 Bag’s mission is to provide brand new duffle bags and backpacks to foster youth instead of trash bags as luggage when being removed from their homes or moved from shelter to shelter.

Eliminate the use of trash bags as a form of luggage when a child enters into care, between shelters, or ages out of care.

A Serenity Activity Pack (ASAP)

The A Serenity Activity Pack (ASAP) Initiative was designed to give various law enforcement a bag filled with necessary supplies like fidget spinners, plush toys, coloring books, and wipes for police to give to children while encountering a situation. It is our desire of making every encounter with the men and women that keep us safe in law enforcement to be comforting, safe, and caring for all children.

Back to School Drives

Day 1's Back to School Drives ensure no child feels forgotten or disrespected. By providing the basic necessity of a backpack or bag. This past August they exceeded any single year of bags being shipped, with over 15,000 bags distributed to children in foster care.

Adopt a High School Senior

Day 1 Bags is dedicated to finding and supplying every single foster child that is graduating from high school with a high-quality duffle bag, rolling backpack, hand-stitched quilt, stainless steel water bottle, a $100 gift card, and so many more gifts. This campaign strives to ensure that every foster senior in Texas graduates with the necessary supplies that will help them in their future college, trade, or career.

Do You Sew?

As part of our Adopt a Senior Campaign, Day 1 Bags gives out special gifts such as Handmade quilts, zipper pouches, and utility totes. We were surprised to have thousands of volunteers to help make personalized gifts for last year’s senior class. If you want to participate or make a gift, let us know.
