Junior Achievement of South Texas is part of the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to motivating kids for future career success, self-sufficiency, and financial acumen. We accomplish this through a huge network of stellar volunteers who share their stories with young people and deliver lessons in career readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Junior Achievement’s unique delivery system provides the training, materials, and support necessary to bolster the chances for student success. The impact is measurable, too. Students who participate in Junior Achievement programs demonstrate a significant understanding of economics and business concepts.

PROGRAMS:

1

Elementary School

JA's Elementary School Programs teach young students that people assume roles as individuals, consumers, and workers in their family, community, and the world around them. These programs are the foundation of its K-12 curricula. Six sequential themes, each with five hands-on activities, as well as an after-school and capstone experience, work to change students’ lives by helping them understand business and economics.
2

Middle Grades

Middle school programs stress the importance of education and staying in school, while introducing students to more in-depth economic concepts and the world of work. These programs build on concepts the students learned in Junior Achievement’s elementary school program and help teens make difficult decisions about how to best prepare for their educational and professional future. The programs supplement standard social studies curricula and develop communication skills that are essential to success in the business world.
3

High School

The high school programs help students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world. As high school students begin to position themselves for their future, there are many unanswered questions about what lies ahead. Junior Achievement’s high school programs help students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world.
4

JA Finance Park

JA Finance Park teaches students the important principles of financial literacy including saving, investing and budgeting. This program is a reality based, hands-on simulation for students that enables them to build foundations for making intelligent lifelong personal finance decisions. It also allows them to develop a realistic understanding of the economic issues they must deal with upon graduation from high school and in the development of a budget.
5

JA Job Shadow

JA Job Shadow takes middle grade and high school students into the workplace to learn about careers. They are introduced to careers through one-day site orientation. Students participating in the program will acquire and apply the skills needed in demanding and ever-changing workplaces. Students will develop job-hunting tools, such as networking, resumes, and interviewing skills.
6

JA Fiscally Fit Camp

At Fiscally Fit camp, campers will learn the basics of INCOME, SAVINGS/INVESTING/RISK MANAGEMENT, DEBIT AND CREDIT, and BUDGETING. Campers will also utilize career exploration tools to learn about their interests and work values and will research career choices, including STEM careers and entrepreneurial opportunities.
