Aid the Silent is a Texas-based nonprofit that helps deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens receive equal access to opportunity by providing financial assistance to enhance communication methods; gain access to education resources; and to improve their overall health, both mental and physical, that leads to individual growth socially, educationally and spiritually.

PROGRAMS:

1

Deaf Awareness

Educating the community and promoting inclusion and acceptance of all persons through community events like the annual 5K Walk/Run. Participate as a runner or volunteer and help raise awareness and funds to support Aid the Silent

Deaf Resources

Provides financial assistance for communication resources such as hearing aids, assistive communication devices, sign language lessons, speech therapy, etc. To be eligible for sponsorship, Aid the Silent requires all applicants send in an audiogram, most recent tax return and the name and and contact info of their audiologist. Considered applicants must be between ages 0-22 (in high school) and have been medically diagnosed with hearing loss. More information is available on their website.

Deaf Education

Financially assists deaf educators with classroom accommodations, supplies and equipment, outreach inclusion, and training and conference fees through the Educator Enrichment Program. Aid the Silent encourages educators/administrators of deaf/HOH children and teens who teach arts, music, and cores subjects to apply for support via their website.

Deaf Ministry

Provides funding of deaf youth camper fees and accessibility resources to Deaf Young Life, a nondenominational Christian ministry that provides an opportunity for teens to experience the Gospel and interact with others who share the same story of hearing loss.

Get Help

To apply for assistance in acquiring resources such as hearing aids, FM systems, American Sign Language lessons and speech therapy, your child must:

  • – Be between the ages of birth and 22 years old (while in high school)
  • – Medically diagnosed with hearing loss
  • – Must prove financial hardship
